Resumen:

La Medalla de Premio de la Real Academia de la Historia de 1853, de la que sólo se conserva un ejemplar, es una obra neoclásica que refleja el estilo e ideología de la primera mitad del siglo XIX. Su largo y bien documentado proceso de creación explica cómo funcionaba la Academia en la primera mitad del siglo XIX. En su creación participaron importantes artistas españoles, como los pintores José Camarón Meliá y José Picado, los grabadores Fernando Selma y Blas Ametller, los medallistas Félix Sagau y Pedro González de Sepúlveda y el cincelador José Sánchez Pescador, por lo que añade a su interés artístico e histórico el ser una de las piezas más bellas de la Medallística española.


Abstract:
 

The gold Medal of Prize of the Royal Academy of the History, of which only one specimen dated 1853 is conserved, is a neoclassical work which reflects the style and ideology of its time. Its long and documented process of creation explains how managed the Academy its affairs in the first half of the 19th century. In its creation took part very important Spanish artists, like the painters José Camarón Meliá and José Picado, the engravers Fernando Selma and Blas Ametller, the medallists Pedro González de Sepúlveda and Félix Sagau, and the chiseller José Sánchez Pescador. Thereafter, it is one of the most beautiful Spanish medals, plenty of historical and artistic interest.
